South Florida Trip
Last week we had the opportunity to take a trip to the Ft. Lauderdale area for a few days of fun-in-the-sun. Haven’t been to Florida in a long time, so this was a chance to get some beach shots and whatever else I could find. I didn’t get a few shots that I would have really loved to get (because I didn’t have my camera with me out in the ocean) but oh well! I think I got some...
Chinatown Photowalk
This past Saturday, July 18, I participated in the Worldwide Photowalk — the portion I attended was held in DC in Chinatown. Got some fun shots, but the part I enjoyed most was talking to other photographers in the area, particularly those I have friended on twitter and/or Facebook. A few of the shots from the day (click the image to go to the gallery page) are below. The rest are here.

Self-Portrait
Have been reading quite a bit of the Strobist (off-camera flash) methods, as well as Joe McNally, and trying different things out. Yellow Flowers
Because I don’t have a green thumb, I’m not sure what these are (though I’m sure Patty does!) – I found them on my way to work in Vienna. Shot taken with Nikon D80 and 35/1.8 AF-S lens, 1/1000 @ 2.8, ISO 100, with a little bit of Color Efex Pro thrown in.

Vanessa & Cassidy
In late June, I had the opportunity to photograph my nieces — something I had been wanting to do for a while. It was a good learning experience for me as they each reacted to the camera differently. In all I think the pictures turned out well, and are a good building block for future shoots. The trick was to try to get them both to smile at the same time and look in the same direction!
