Joe McNally: Location Lighting Techniques
Yesterday I went to the DC Convention Center to see off-camera lighting hero and guru Joe McNally discussion Location Lighting Techniques for Kelby Training Live. I’ve read Joe’s book The Hot Shoe Diaries and watched his seminars on Kelby Training Online so I was familiar with his work (which is quite impressive! His online portfolio can be found here) but it was great to see him “in...
365@50
My buddy Shawn Duffy recently kicked everyone into gear on a new project called “The 365@50 Project”. The goal of a typical 365 is to take 1 photo (or more) each day for 365 straight days. It can be tough to do, unless you just stick the camera out the window each day and snap it. The kicker on this one is to use a 50mm prime lens for all of the photos, which puts some limits on you...

Trying to find things here and there to photograph, apply the filters, and share them. The software makes it super easy to do everything — you can stack filters, save to your iPhone camera roll, share to Twitter and Facebook, and...
Melissa’s Maternity Portraits | Northern Virginia Maternity Photographer
A few months ago, my wife and I found out we were having a baby boy in January Since I enjoy taking portraits, I wanted to get some of her now, and we’d take more throughout her pregnancy to chronicle the changes she experienced as she moved farther along in her term. It takes her a bit to get warmed up to a camera, but she was a great sport once we got going.
These were taken in the City of...
