My buddy Shawn Duffy recently kicked everyone into gear on a new project called “The 365@50 Project”. The goal of a typical 365 is to take 1 photo (or more) each day for 365 straight days. It can be tough to do, unless you just stick the camera out the window each day and snap it.
The kicker on this one is to use a 50mm prime lens for all of the photos, which puts some limits on you but opens up a few doors as well.
I have a similar routine each day, so finding new things is tough. But keep your eyes open and you’ll find things to shoot, and on some days you’ll have to make things up! My 365@50 set can be found on Flickr here, and the entire group’s entries are here. My favorite ones I’ve done so far are below, let me know what you think!

These images look great all stacked together. Looking forward to seeing the whole collection of your 365 photos in another 11 months!
Thanks Victoria, I’ve got a long way to go! I think the last one I did was day #18 or 19… but you’re right, it will be fun to see the progression from day 1 to 365, and see if any improvement was made!

These are all wonderful photos. If I had a 50mm lens I’d so be with you guys on this project. It’s fun to see a year in photos once you’ve completed a 365 project. I’m looking forward to finishing my second on 12/31/09.
Thanks, Kim! $100 or so for the 1.8, but you’re manual focus on your camera. Not a huge deal, you’ll still get metering
Penn in Pikesville MD has one for $65 used if you don’t mind driving. One will show up closer at some point. Or you could spring about $400 for the AF-S f/1.4 but that’s a bunch for what it is (IMO)!
